The first week of school is over and the second is about to begin! We hope that everyone has had a fantastic start to the new year and is settling back into the school routine.

Fitness Trail Dedication
Please join us this Wednesday at 6:30PM for the dedication of our new Wascher Fitness Trail. Your contributions over the past two years helped the PTA raise the funds needed for this project to be completed. We are very excited to watch as our students begin to enjoy this new addition to our school.
First PTA Meeting
There are many great events planned for this year and the PTA needs You! Please join us in the Wascher Library on Wednesday immediately following the Fitness Track Dedication for our first PTA meeting of the year.
Be looking in the Tuesday folders this week for all the information about the upcoming Jog-A-Thon that will be held on Friday, October 4th.
Classroom Work Party

Back To School Night
Thursday, September 19th at 6:30PM is the Wascher Back To School Night! The PTA is looking for people to help out that evening with popping popcorn, selling T-Shirts, handing out information about the PTA and just letting other parents know how they can get involved. If you are available and would be willing to help out that evening please let us know.
Summer Movie Night
Wednesday, August 21 @ 6:30PM
We hope that you can come join us for a great Summer Movie Night as we watch the newly released Teen Beach Movie!
Everyone is welcome and as always there will be plenty of popcorn, licorice and water.
Classroom Work Party
We started the Classroom Work Parties last year as a way for parents to help out their child’s classroom even if they are not available during normal school hours.
It was such a great success that the teachers asked the PTA to hold a Party before school starts this year to help prepare our classrooms for excellence.
In order for us to continue with successful Parties WE NEED YOU!
Please join us Wednesday, August 28th from 6PM-8PM in the Community Room at Wascher as we cut, copy, staple, laminate, cover bulletin boards and anything else our classrooms need!

First PTA Meeting
Our first PTA meeting is coming up quick and will be held on Wednesday, September 11th at 6:30PM.
The meeting will start with a dedication ceremony for the new Wascher Fitness Track and continue afterwards in the Wascher Library!
We have a great year ahead of us and a lot of fantastic activities and events. Come join us in the PTA and find out where you can lend a hand.
Order forms for this years Wascher Wildcat T-Shirts went home in Tuesday folders last week.
There are two great designs to choose from this year, the returning Paw Print for last year and the all new “W” that you have seen around the school this year.
You can choose T-Shirts, Hooded Sweatshirts, Beanie or Blankets. To add a personalized touch you can have your students name added to the back of the T-Shirts for only a little more.
Remember to get your order back in before this Friday, May 3rd, to make sure you and your family are sporting the latest Wascher gear.

Thank you to everyone who came out tonight to help at the first Classroom Work Party!
We had a great turn out with 13 adults and 6 students working hard for 2 hours. There were thousands of copies made, clocks, dominoes and all kinds of things lamented, more cutting than we had scissors for, and much more.
We are looking forward to the next Classroom Work Party and will set the date soon. We hope that you will be able to join us for an even bigger event.

This Friday December 7th the 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th and 5th graders are in for a treat – a Popcorn Treat!
The Popcorn Treat is just a special way to mix things up for the students and keep life at Wascher fun and exciting.
In order to pull this off Principal Crain needs some help. We need volunteers who are able to come take a shift popping and bagging popcorn. No Experience Required.
The time slots for volunteers are from 9:00-10:00, 10:00-11:00 and 11:00-12:00 on December 7th. The goal is to make popcorn for all 300+ kids!

September was a fantastic first month back at Wascher for our students, staff and volunteers! Last month our volunteers put in 176.6 hours! That is 30 hours more than September last year. We are well on our way to reaching our goal of 4000+ volunteer hours this year.
Thank You to all the volunteers that have made such a difference for our students.
We will be holding our October PTA meeting next Wednesday, October 10th at 7PM in the Wascher Library. We have a full schedule with lots of great information. Childcare will also be provided. Please check out the agenda below for all the details.

October Family Fun Night
Come join us October 26 from 6:30-7:15 in the Wascher gym for a Thrilling Family Fun Night! The McMinnville High School dance team will be here to teach students and parents the “Thriller” dance!

Thanks to everyone who attended the first PTA Meeting last week. We had some great discussions and filled a few more key committee positions. Below are some of the highlights from the meeting.
- New PTA Bulletin Board located just outside the main office. Sharon Nielsen and Tina Strungfield will be keeping the board full of great information.
- T-Shirt committee has been formed and will be headed up by Cassie Fox
- Katie Gladwill will begin coordination for this years Battle of the Books
- Explore the option to bring the Oregon Coast Aquarium Outreach program to Wascher this January

This Wednesday, September 12th, at 7PM we will be holding the first PTA meeting for 2012-2013. Everyone is invited to join us in kicking off the new school year.
We are changing up the meeting format a little bit this year in an attempt to get the most out of our discussions and to respect the time of those attending. The meetings will be broken into two sections. The General Meeting will be held for the first half an hour or so. This is the time when we will discuss business that involves the whole PTA and vote on any motions. Afterwards we will break up into smaller committee meetings to allow those who are interested in a specific event or activity to focus on the required tasks. The committees that meet will be different for each meeting depending on what needs to get done and the length of those meetings may be just a few minutes up to a half hour.
Since this is our first meeting we will be going over some housekeeping issues along with getting into the upcoming events. Below is the agenda along with several other documents that will be handed out at the meeting. Please take a moment to review them and let us know if you have any questions.

Can’t Make the Meeting?
We hope to see you all there, however, we also know that many of you are busy on Wednesday nights. That’s OK! Meeting attendance is not required to be involved.
Some of our committee chairs and event coordinators are unable to attend the Wednesday night meetings but are still active in getting things done. The key is COMMUNICATION. Send us an e-mail, give us a call or track us down in the hallways and let us know you want to help. We will find a place for you and keep you informed on what is going on.
Every parent is important and every parent has something to give to their students. Let us help you make a difference at Wascher and in the lives of all our students.
