Planning Retreat Follow-Up

Two weeks ago we held the PTA Planning Retreat to put together a road map for the upcoming school year.  We had 10 parents show up to spend a large portion of their summer Saturday to give input, join in the discussions and determine where they would like to help out this year.  I would like to say “Thank You” to each of them for taking the time to get involved.

The main focus of the day was to brainstorm about what the PTA does, why we do it and how we get it all done.  We also outlined a proposed budget, began work on scheduling events and assigning committee leads.

These brainstorming sessions did not necessarily produce exact results but they give us a common place to start defining our future plans.

Continuing Efforts

In the time since the retreat we have continued to make progress in laying the foundation for the new year:

The Back-To-School committee, headed up by Sharon Nielsen, has been working on fliers, banners and magnets to use as promotional material.

Katie Gladwill has offered to head up organizing a Wascher PTA Facebook page.  Be looking for announcements and invites coming soon.

A new event has been added this year that will be held in October.  The October Family Fun Festival (working title) will be organized by Kam lo Reid.

All PTA officers attended the required state training and the new Wascher PTA website is beginning to fill in with information.

Volunteers Welcome

As you can see we have lots of different projects getting underway and there are plenty more to come.  If you would like to join in on the fun and lend a helping hand please let us know.

Welcome to the new Wascher PTA web site.  Here you will be able to find information about all that is going on at Josephine Wascher Elementary School.

The plan is to provide a place where parents and community members can get a calendar of events, sign up for e-mail updates, find out about how to get involved with various volunteer opportunity and much more.
